Software Quality Assurance Manager

Job Summary:
Manage all aspects of software quality assurance for in-house development of client specific software for custom computerized toll collection systems like E-ZPass.

Description:
The SQA manager will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive, full-life cycle quality program for TRMI’s software development team including employees, contractors, and third party custom software providers. The SQA manager will conduct ongoing assessments of the development process, identify causal factors, develop mitigation actions, identify and create tools, methods and strategies to prevent software defects. The range of responsibilities includes the entire product cycle from proposal development, through requirements gathering, development, internal testing, and external testing all the way to on-going support.

Responsibilities:
• Take full ownership of the overall Software Quality Assurance function at TRMI.
• Work with all the stakeholders to assure a quality product is built from requirements gathering through test.
• Develop processes to assure software quality including software quality, test plans and strategies, etc.
• Be proactive in software quality. Don’t expect to test in quality.
• Train developers and testers in quality concepts and methodologies.
• Develop configuration management and release processes.
• Manage the workflow of all testing and quality assurance activities.
• Develop and publish software quality assurance guidelines, including workflow requirements, for software development.
• Manage testing equipment and test platforms
• Write test procedures (English), test scripts (code), and SQL queries for test analysis

Requirements:
• 5 years of overall software quality assurance with software engineering experience, with exposure to the full product development cycle, from requirements through post-release. Able to formulate and implement effective test strategies, and identify areas for significant efficiency gain defect prevention.
• 2 years of test automation experience with at least one commercial test tool package (e.g. QuickTest Professional, Winrunner, SilkTest) in a Windows and Linux environment. 1+ year(s) of programming experience in at least one of C++, Java or C#.
• Ability to engage effectively with software developers to understand technical concepts. Comfortable providing product requirements input to make applications “more automatable” and “more easily testable.” Frequently researches 3rd party tool solutions to assist in the automation process.
• Familiarity with current and emerging software test methods and philosophies. Defect prevention experience will be heavily favored.
• Strong team player with a “can do” attitude. Routinely demonstrates flexibility and is a very capable multi-tasker. Willing to pitch in and contribute to manual test efforts when needed.
• Excellent spoken and written Engish
• Significant proficiency with MS-Office applications
• B.S. degree in Computer Science, or equivalent technical discipline.

• Experience with Visual Source Safe
• Experience with Oracle
• Experience with networks
• Experience with control electronics and I/O
