TRMI to Design and Install Video Enforcement Systems
at Seven San Francisco Bay Bridges

TRMI Systems Integration has been selected by the Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA) to provide and integrate video enforcement camera systems for seven bridges across the San Francisco Bay. On February 18, 2008, BATA issued a contract with TRMI to design, install and maintain new violation enforcement systems (VES) on the bridges. Installation is scheduled to begin in June of 2008 and is expected to be completed by Spring of 2009. Anticipated cost of the project is approximately $7.5 million.

“This system builds on the success we have had with the VES system we installed at the Golden Gate Bridge,” said Charlie Mitchell, senior vice president of TRMI. “We achieved excellent results with automatic license plate reading at Golden Gate,” said Mitchell, “using optical character recognition (OCR) cameras from Transport Data Systems of San Diego, CA. For the BATA systems, we will be using color cameras from Transport Data Systems with strobes that flash so fast that the drivers won’t notice.”

About TRMI Systems Integration
Since 1974, TRMI has been designing and installing custom-integrated electronic toll collection systems for public and private organizations. In 1981, TRMI built the first solid-state electronic toll collection system in the United States at the Golden Gate Bridge and has since installed systems throughout the US and internationally. TRMI tolling systems have been installed on a combined total of 66 international toll lanes at the Canadian and Mexican borders, for 9 agencies and 3 private operators.
