San Francisco, CA, July 13, 2006 – The Golden Gate Bridge District Board of Directors voted unanimously today to select TRMI Systems Integration of Accord, NY, to provide a new Electronic Toll Collection system (ETC) for the historic San Francisco bridge.
“We installed the nation’s first all-solid-state electronic toll collection system at the Golden Gate Bridge back in 1981," said Charlie Mitchell, TRMI's Vice-President, "Their Toll Authority has been a customer for our toll systems equipment ever since, and we are delighted to have them back for a complete system upgrade."
TRMI will be providing eleven lanes of equipment including video enforcement equipment, as well as three lanes of non-toll traffic counting equipment. The total contract value is $5.3 million. The new TRMI system will reduce maintenance costs, saving the Golden Gate Toll Authority approximately $100,000 per year.
The TRMI upgrade will provide Golden Gate with touch screen toll terminals in the toll booths with a completely new user interface, custom built to allow toll collectors to process traffic faster than before. Front and rear video cameras will improve violation enforcement capabilities. New pre-defined and user-defined reports will allow the Authority to implement new audit processes for simplified revenue control and faster reconciliation than with their current system.
