TRMI Wins Upgrade Contract for
Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge

Based on a contract awarded by the Ogdensburg-Prescott Bridge Authority, TRMI will be upgrading the electronic toll collection (ETC) system for the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge in Ogdensburg, NY. The bridge, which connects Canada to the U.S. has a four-lane toll plaza on the U.S. side in Ogdensburg that provides revenue for the Bridge Authority.

TRMI will upgrade two of the lanes to a fully automatic electronic toll collection (ETC) system, using RFID cards similar to an E-ZPass system. The manual lanes will continue handling commercial traffic and cash transactions.

“With our new system,” stated Jose Correa, TRMI’s lead engineer, “the two automatic lanes will be dedicated to commuter traffic for RFID cardholders.” In addition, said Correa, “Commuters can replace their legacy cards with the new RFID cards right at the manual tollbooths, without having to go into the Bridge Authority office building.”

The extensive TRMI upgrade will include the addition of an Oracle 9.2 database, a complete update of all Plaza Applications to run on Windows XP Professional and reports to Crystal 9, including new workstations and lane controllers. The anticipated date of completion is November 2005.
