ORT 2.0™ - For Greater Accuracy

Building on the best practices from first-generation designs, TRMI has engineered a second generation of Open Road Tolling (ORT) with accuracy and reliability that can make your move to All Electronic Tolling (AET) more practical and more viable.

Even if full AET is not in your immediate future, TRMI delivers an Open Road Tolling (ORT) system with a level of sophistication and performance that is a generation beyond the others. That’s why we call it ORT 2.0™.

Field-proven solutions

Along with the next generation of ORT, TRMI delivers decades of experience in the design, installation, and integration of complex electronic toll collection systems. Currently, TRMI’s systems accurately and reliably process millions of toll transactions every day. Choosing TRMI to design and build your ORT system is the choice of innovation, experience and value.

ORT 2.0 Means Better for Less

When we developed our ORT system, we examined the existing technologies at the component level and didn’t take anything for granted. We investigated all available AVC, AVI, and VES systems with a fresh eye, and we built our system from the ground up, avoiding the expensive mistakes of earlier generations of ORT designs. The bottom line is: You pay less for a more advanced system.

ORT 2.0 Means Greater Accuracy With Datalign™ Post Processing

One of the chief advantages of TRMI’s design over the others is that our zone controller accepts all intermediate messages from Autosense®, Idris®, and AVI, and it uses all of the data to build real-time scenarios. In the process, we construct a virtual overhead sensor with multiple overlapping beams to form a monolithic sensing system. The zone controller then applies this information to detect sensor failures and to automatically downgrade sensor weighting in the algorithm.

And our innovation doesn’t stop there. TRMI has designed a proprietary post-processing system into its Guardian™ Software Suite called the Datalign module. Datalign employs intelligent components to examine all available data as a unified set. The module then uses this perspective to improve tag association and enhance classification accuracy.

ORT 2.0 Means Greater Reliability

Unlike with earlier generations, reliability was a starting objective for our design, not an afterthought. TRMI’s ORT system employs multiple sensors with overlapping functions to provide fault tolerance that eliminates the chance of a single, system-wide point of failure.

TRMI’s ORT uses the Stratus® ftServer® system for its zone controller. The ftServer features industry-leading uptime with parallel CPUs and a RAID data storage system. With this configuration, the system can lose a CPU and three disks without causing any downtime. The zone contoller’s uptime is 99.999%.
