Project Profile:

McAllen International Bridge

TRMI developed and delivered this four-lane toll system, which uses stainless steel toll terminals, RMX lane controllers, and Oracle running on a Novell file server for the host systems. Six Windows workstations are connected using an Ethernet LAN.

McAllen had a unique requirement for an electronic toll collection system where the shipper paid the fare, not the carrier, so that normal ATI would not work. TRMI devised a consumable two-part bar coded ticket that increased traffic flow and reduced fraud. Revenue capture increases paid for the $657K project within seven months from installation. Subsequent system upgrades have included the addition of two more lanes and a Windows-based lane and Win2000 server running Oracle 9i.
