Serial Lane Interface Cards

The TRMI 4200MP Serial Lane Interface (SLI) card is a micro processor-based product for interfacing axle-counting treadles with computerized toll systems. The SLI ensures correct sequencing for forward and reverse counts. It continuously tests the state of the treadle strips and reports any changes in the status of the strips. In addition to reporting open, shorted, or intermittent strips, malfunctioning strips are automatically disabled and proper axle-counting will continue; preventing unnecessary maintenance calls. The host computer may interrogate the current strip status and has full control over the operating mode of the Serial Lane Interface.

The incomplete passage of a wheel in either direction or casual walking on the treadle does not produce treadle counts. A directional count is produced only if the vehicle completes passage over the treadle in the initial direction. With a single strip, only forward counts are possible.

The Serial Lane Interface is supplied in two versions. The Stand Alone Version is sold as a single circuit card or in a NEMA enclosure with power supplies and connectors. In the PC Version, the card plugs directly into a standard personal computer slot. Both versions include software which can be used to test and monitor treadles.
