TRMI Collaborates with Youth Employment Service

Posted on Posted in News

TRMI is proud to be continuing its relationship with The ARC of Ulster Greene in hosting an intern for a second year. Through the Supported Employment Service Department, a program called the Youth Employment Service is offered to facilitate paid employment experiences for young individuals.

In its third year running at this agency, the Youth Employment Program currently has 12 interns serving throughout the county this summer. Each year the interest in gaining real and practical experience in young individuals grows, evident by the increasing participation in the program since inception.

This program identifies the skills, abilities and interests of the young individual and then matches those skill sets to an organization. The company or employer incurs zero cost as The ARC covers all expenses of the internship.

A diverse listing of companies facilitating internships through this program include the Town of Marbletown, City of Kingston, Historic Huguenot Street, Wine Rack in Tilson, Rondout Municipal Building, Hannaford, Camp Belly Rub, Just-A-Buck, and Westwind Orchards. TRMI encourages all businesses to host interns to provide real work experience prior to their college studies. While interns are primarily hosted during the summer, arrangements can be made to host interns year round.

Any organization interested in getting involved with this program should contact Mrs. Anne DeWitt-Morse, Senior Job Developer, atAnne.Dewitt-Morse@TheArcUG.org or (845) 514-7937.
