Lane Controller
The lane controller provides the interface point between the lane peripheral equipment and the host computer system. The lane programs and decision-making logic also run in the lane controller. The lane controller enclosure houses the CPU, the lane interface devices, and the multi-port serial interface.
The lane controller provides a real-time clock, a high-speed network interface to the plaza, and built-in serial and parallel I/O.
The system uses a buffered multi-port serial interface (an adapter board) that plugs directly into the lane controller. A Serial Lane Interface (SLI) card provides an interface to the 4-contact treadle and the digital I/O functions through a single RS-232 line to the lane controller.
The collector terminal interfaces with the lane controller to provide local data storage.
