TRMI provides Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) with operation and maintenance support services for the Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) System at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). In December 2011, TRMI created a custom AVI system that is used to count vehicle traffic, and to register, track and monitor all commercial ground transportation operators and their vehicle activity in and around the LAX Central Terminal Area including outlying areas. The system contains a series of electronic readers (radio frequency modules and antennas) that detect and monitor transponders mounted on passing commercial vehicles, including limousines, buses, taxicabs and passenger vans permitted by LAWA to provide ground transportation to, from, and in LAX. The AVI System operates and is monitored 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Routine monitoring and as-needed repairs are executed to ensure continuous operation and data collection from the AVI System. In addition, TRMI has provided hardware, software, and magnetic loop coils to ensure effective functionality along with continuous maintenance and repair services.
