TRMI Sentinel System Goes Live at the Atlantic Beach Bridge

Posted on Posted in News

TRMI is proud to announce that our Sentinel toll collection system is now live at the Atlantic Beach Bridge!

The Nassau County Bridge Authority (NCBA) awarded TRMI the contract for the design and implementation of a modern electronic toll collection system for the Atlantic Beach Bridge in Lawrence, NY in December 2022.

The Atlantic Beach Bridge is a 1,173-foot-long drawbridge carrying NY 878, connecting the barrier island communities of Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, Lido Beach and Point Lookout with Long Island. The original bridge opened in 1927, and the current bridge opened in 1952 and was rebuilt in 1998.

The primary goal of the Nassau County Bridge Authority is to efficiently operate and thoroughly maintain the Atlantic Beach Bridge for safe and secure passage for its users. TRMI has worked closely with NCBA management and staff over the past year to bring their toll collection requirements and ideas to fruition in the Sentinel system.

The Atlantic Beach Bridge is the only toll bridge in Nassau County, spanning 11 toll lanes, and provides direct access to the Rockaway Peninsula. This system implementation has introduced EZPass to NCBA where it has never been before. NCBA offers residential discount programs based on zip code through EZPass, as well as cash fare.
